Age UK asking next government to halve pensioner poverty by 2020

Published Apr 14th 2015

With 1.6 million older people in the UK living in poverty, and another million only just above the poverty threshold, Age UK wants the political parties to “immediately ensure the state pension provides a decent income for everyone by guaranteeing it will rise in line with whichever is highest – inflation, average earnings, or 2.5 per cent.”

Age UK is also asking the next government to make “better information and advice on retirement income available to everyone, including tips on saving with a mid-life career review, and guidance at retirement and throughout later life.”

You can email your parliamentary candidate through the Age UK website and ask him or her to become an Age Champion.
