Introducing “Polaroids – Anecdotes of a life well-lived”

Published Jan 2nd 2013

Welcome to 2013! With a year of possibilities ahead, I find January to be an exciting time to re-examine old goals, set new ones and re-ignite my creativity.

Part of my excitement this year comes from having decided to make one of my long-held and cherished goals a concrete one, rather than just a dream. Polaroids – Anecdotes of a life well-lived is a project celebrating age and women. Although men will be a part of it, the focus is on lives well-lived by women.

Everybody has a story to tell, but unfortunately, many older people who have much to teach and give don’t have anyone to tell theirs to. Add to that the frenetic style and pace of modern life and opportunities to transfer the knowledge gained through age are few and far between.

This project will gather stories into an archive of life in the twenty-first century. My ambitions for the project involve multiple publications, exhibitions and community events. To get to that point, the necessary first step is to gather enough stories to create a substantial body of work.

I will gather stories through several interviews (hopefully over tea and scones or cake) spread out over a few days or weeks.  Articles and images will be posted on the Silk and Tweed website as they become available.

If you or someone you know would like to get involved, please get in touch. I would love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful new year.
