Labour calls cuts of one-fifth to social care budgets a “quiet crisis”

Following research from the Commons Library showing that “councils’ annual budgets for help for the over-65s have fallen by £1.3bn since 2010, with cuts hitting nursing homes and support for the most vulnerable,” Labour has asked the Coalition Government for “concrete assurances of good faith from the government before agreeing to resume cross-party talks on a deal for the funding of care and support for elderly and disabled people.”   Full coverage is available from The Guardian.
