New report supports calls for retirement minister

MGM Advantage’s 2012 Retirement Nation report found that older people contribute nearly £27 billion worth of unpaid work to the national economy, an increase of £2 billion in the last year. Much of the contributions are in the form of voluntary and community work and free care for family members, both old and young. Yet despite providing such invaluable support, the majority of survey respondents say they feel undervalued by society and badly treated by politicians. An MGM Advantage spokesperson said, “We are calling for the needs of this diverse group of people to be represented at the highest level within Government.” A full article is available from the Telegraph here.
