Numbers of (very healthy) centenarians growing

Published Dec 2nd 2011

With a quarter of children born today expected to live to 100 years of age, and the current centenarian population expected to grow twelve-fold in the next 30 years, the International Longevity Centre’s latest report says that becoming a centenarian is one of the most celebrated achievements in our society yet is little understood. “Some research appears to suggest that centenarians continue to enjoy better physical health than ‘younger’ cohorts of older people into their centenarian years and avoid many of the non-communicable diseases associated with older age.”  The full report is available from the Centre here.
